Microfinance includes a range of small financial services appropriate for poor. Often, it refers to customized financial services that improve the access of poor to various financial services. Micro Enterprices Development (MED) is one of the major intervention area of ESAF Microfinance. It plays a critical role in the development of economy particularly in those economies which are undergoing transition from traditional subsistence to a modern industrial economy. ESAF started MED programmes in 1995. It initiates effective grass root level development which aims at economic self-reliance among the poor. MED provides a broad package of financial and business development services to the society and economically challenged men and women.
